Understanding Bullying & Harassment in the Workplace
Employers must protect staff from unreasonable treatment that risks health, safety, or wellbeing. Persistent bullying can breach the implied term of mutual trust and confidence and, in serious cases, may engage the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Harassment is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010 when there is unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic (e.g., sex, race, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment) that violates dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment. Sexual harassment and victimisation are also prohibited.
We guide you through recognising these issues, documenting incidents properly, and navigating your employer’s grievance procedures confidently. Where necessary, we support you in bringing claims to Employment Tribunals or negotiating settlements. Our job is to make complex legal processes understandable and manageable, empowering you to make informed decisions.
Pinney Talfourd’s Employment team combines legal expertise with emotional intelligence, providing advocacy that respects your experience while aggressively seeking solutions. We encourage open dialogue, preparing you for meetings and hearings, and working closely with you to manage expectations. Whether you’re seeking advice on addressing bullying or harassment informally or planning formal legal action, you can count on us to stand by your side. We understand the personal impact these issues have and dedicate ourselves to restoring your sense of security and dignity through personalised, thorough support.
Our reputation, underpinned by The Legal 500 rankings and longstanding client relationships, reflects our commitment to trustworthy, results-focused service. When you choose Pinney Talfourd, you are choosing a partner who cares deeply about your wellbeing and future.
