Steven studied at the University of Sheffield, initially completing an undergraduate degree in Archaeology and History (2.1). He converted to law by completing an MA Law, followed by the Legal Practice Course, achieving a distinction in both cases.
Steven trained at a legal 500 firm in Buckinghamshire, qualifying in September 2018. He remained at the firm for a further seven years, becoming a senior associate practising primarily in the dispute resolution team, with a contentious trusts and probate specialism.
Steven joined Pinney Talfourd in 2026 as a Senior Associate specialising in contentious trusts and probate. His work includes will disputes, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and claims against personal representatives.
EXPERTISE
Steven is regularly instructed on a wide range of contentious probate matters. His approach is to cut through to the core issues of a case and to find a strategy that can secure the best outcome for his client in difficult circumstances. Often his role is to try and take the heat and emotion out of a dispute, and to look at the facts in an objective, analytical manner, in order to bring clarity to an often difficult and messy situation.
Steven is in the process of taking the course to become a member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). He is a member of ConTrA, the Contentious Trusts Association.

Outside of work Steven enjoys long walks, nature (especially ornithology), travel, good food, and a range of sports, particularly golf and darts. He is a long-suffering supporter of West Ham United.
